Alex has been so sick!!!!!!!!! In 3 days, he will have been sick for an entire MONTH! We are ready for him to be well! On January 8th Alex came down with RSV. It started off just like an ordinary cold, but with a very very goopy nose. After about a week he started wheezing and needing breathing treatments. After 2 solid weeks, his fever was still there, and he was still wheezing and yucky nosed. He had a terrible cough and lots of chest congestion. We brought him in to the doctor's office, where they officially diagnosed him with RSV and also a secondary sinus infection. They put him on antibiotics for his sinuses, which helped for a little while, but then he got the flu before he was completely recovered. We brought him back to our pedi, who increased his breathing treatments to every 4 hours. He spiked some really high fevers. His breathing and coughing also got very out of control. We decided to bring him to the ER to be checked out. Sam & I have now figured out that the ER is a huge waste of time, money, & sanity! After sitting in there for 4 hours waiting to see the doctor, Alex was not showing any of the symptoms that we brought him in with. The ER doctor diagnosed him with the "common cold", told us to take him off of his breathing treatments, and said he was fine. Yeah Right!!!! We brought him home to have him spike a fever of 103.7 that night and to start coughing so hard he kept gagging himself. He wouldn't eat, drink, or play. I even got a shower with him, in which he slept all 30mins through. He even took 4 long naps in 1 day. (That NEVER happens!) Then came...THE SNOW! We called his pediatrician back, who also believed Alex had the flu, even though the hospital test came back negative. He wanted us to bring him back in to get re-tested, but that morning the ice was so thick you could not even see the road at all. Our pediatricians office was closed too! Alex had 2 priesthood blessings, and we just kept praying he would get strong enough to get over all his illnesses. By yesterday, to ice had cleared some, but our doctors office was still closed. Sam and I thought it would be best to bring him to FastER Care. He still had a fever of 101.8, lots of green boogies coming out of his nose, and was coughing & wheezing. They re-tested him for RSV, which came back negative, took some chest x-rays, which were fine, and found that his left ear was infected. So now, Alex is on his second round of antibiotics, and we are hoping this does the trick. Our poor baby needs a well break! Enough is enough! So much for an exciting 10th month of life. We are all looking forward to month 11!!
